LastTrak 8100 - Battery Operated Live Portable GPS Tracking System Track the instant location of your vehicle, anywhere in the U.S. The LastTrak 8100 is a real-time tracking system that incorporates the latest in GPS and wireless technology to accurately determine the exact location of a vehicle. The 8100 can be used as a portable device operating on an internal lithium battery pack or it can be connected directly to the vehicle's 12 volt power supply. The LastTrak 8100 hardware and software was designed to be used for both single unit portable applications or large fleet management installations. The LastTrak 8100 can be set to update it's location from every second or up to 30 minutes and anywhere in between. BATTERY LIFE depends on how much the vehicle is in motion and how often you want the unit to update the location. On a full battery charge, the unit should last at least one week with average driving with the unit set to give you 5 minute updates. With one second updates, expect about 4 to 5 days of tracking before you need to charge the battery.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is the LastTrak 8100 waterproof?
Although the LastTrak 8100 comes with three high performance magnets for mounting and o-rings around the major openings, we do not consider the LastTrak 8100 waterproof. It will effectively receive GPS signals under the vehicle but it is the customer’s responsibility to protect the unit from road hazards including inclement weather condition. The LastTrak 8100 warranty does not cover water damage or lost units.

How long does the Lithium-Ion battery last?
Since the LastTrak 8100 is motion activated, battery life will depend upon the number of hours the vehicle is in motion per day and the frequency of the transmission updates. Please check the specifications page for more details.

Will changing the updating frequency affect the battery life?
Yes. The more frequent the LastTrak 8100 updates, the more resources are needed to capture and transmit the information.

Can the 8100 be hard-wired to the vehicle?
Yes. The LastTrak 8100 comes with an external power port and cable to connect to an always-on hot lead on your vehicle.

Will the internal battery take over if the 8100 is hard-wired and the vehicle loses power?
Yes. The internal battery will charge from the vehicle’s charging system and will assume full LastTrak 8100 system operation if the 12V power is lost.

How long does it take to install?
If used as a portable system, it will only take seconds as the LastTrak 8100 is completely portable. If you want to hard-wire the LastTrak 8100 to your vehicle, the most common location is underneath the dash. This will provide for the 12V connectivity and provide a secure location. If you wish to install the LastTrak 8100 in this location, you may want to consider taking the unit to a qualified audio alarm installer or mechanic. Installing the LastTrak 8100 inside the engine compartment is not recommended as the device will be surrounded by metal and impedes the GPS reception.

Where can I place the LastTrak 8100 unit?
The LastTrak 8100 incorporates the same sensitivity as our TrakKey. Therefore, it can easily be hidden in most areas within the vehicle or even underneath the vehicle against the steel frame.

How strong are the magnetic mounts?
LastTrak 8100 utilizes high performance magnets providing effective mounting of the device. There are three magnets on the bottom of the case.

What are the different plans of service?
There are three different plans to choose from. Plan A is $16.63, Plan B $33.31, and the unlimited data plan (Plan C) is $66.67. These plans are per unit purchased. There is also a one-time activation fee of $39.95 and the first month of service is charged in advance.

Can I still get second by second data with a lower cost data plan?**
Yes. One of the key benefits of the LastTrak 8100 is the ability to change the rate of tracking on the software. Most systems require manual configuration. However, each time the LastTrak 8100 transmits data, it is utilizing bandwidth. You will have to use this feature sparingly if you have a $16.63 or $33.31 plan.

How do I determine which plan is best for me?

Is there a contract for the monitoring service?
Yes. Since the LastTrak 8100 transmits the GPS data over the Verizon Wireless® network, a data plan is required for a period of twelve (12) months. Once the initial contract is complete, the service will become month to month.

What are the terms and conditions of the monthly service?
The terms and conditions of the monthly service coincide with the Verizon Wireless® data plan service. Since the LastTrak 8100 is not a cell phone, some of the conditions do not apply.

How do I know if I am staying within my data plan?
The LastTrak 8100 software contains filters that will identify usage. If you wish to upgrade your data plan during the first year contract, you can do so by contacting us.

What is the warranty for the LastTrak 8100?
The LastTrak 8100 will come with a one year manufacturer’s warranty.

What kind of reports will I get?
You will be able to create driving reports based upon the data transmitted from the LastTrak 8100 as well as stop reports. Stops are identified as duration of 10 minutes or more.

Does the software work on a Macintosh computer?
Unfortunately No. The software will only work on a PC.

What is your return policy?
Due to the nature of vehicle tracking and the contractual agreement signed for service, we do not allow returns. This is consistent with our existing policy for all of our products.

How does the LastTrak 8100 compare with other real-time systems?
Most real-time devices transmit data at a minimum of 5 or more, require hard-wiring or have limited battery life. The LastTrak 8100 series is completely self-contained and portable, highly sensitive, has the capability to transmit once per second, and was designed under the same standards that makes Land Air Sea Systems the leader in GPS asset tracking.

Can I use the LastTrak 8100 as a theft recovery system?
Yes. Since the LastTrak 8100 has the capability of second by second transmission and geo-fence functionality, this unit is a sound choice for theft recovery applications.
